Anthropophyteia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Anthropophyteia or, in full, Anthropophyteia. Yearbooks for folkloric surveys and research on the history of the development of gender morality is a collection on sexual folklore and ethnological sex research that appeared together with two accompanying series (the accessories and the historical sources ). The important basic work on sexual research and moral history was founded by Friedrich S. Krauss as a continuation of Kryptadia and published from Volume IV in association with Bernhard Hermann Obst. It was published from 1904 to 1913 in Leipzig by the Deutsche Verlag-Aktien-Gesellschaft and from Vol. VII in the Ethnologische Verlag. The writings were published privately and were "only intended for scholars, not for the book trade".

It is one of the most comprehensive collections on ethnological sex research. Numerous outstanding representatives of ethnology , medicine and law have contributed to it. The series was published with the editorial assistance and staff of Thomas Achelis, Friedrich J. Bieber , Iwan Bloch , Franz Boas , Georg Buschan , Albert Eulenburg , Sigmund Freud , Anton Herrmann, Juljan Jaworskij, Alexander Mitrovic, Albert Neisser , Giuseppe Pitrè, Ferdinand Freiherr von Reitzenstein , Isak Robinsohn, Karl von den Steinen , Gerald Camden Wheeler and others.

The publisher was involved in numerous lawsuits from 1910, which also resulted in the confiscation of the yearbooks.

The Anthropophyteia appeared "to the exclusion of the book trade and the general public, only for scholars who had a scientific education and who have therefore acquired the lack of prejudice that is an indispensable precondition for a purely objective assessment of natural phenomena."
