UBS Open Gstaad 2000

The UBS Open Gstaad 2000 was the 33rd edition of the tennis clay court tournament in Gstaad . The tournament was part of the male ATP series as the International Series tournament . It took place in conjunction with the Miller Lite Hall of Fame Championships in Newport and the Wideyes Swedish Open in Båstad from July 10-16 , 2000. The prize pool for both singles and doubles was $ 575,000, making it the highest-value tournament of the game week. In singles, 32 players competed against each other, in doubles there were 16 pairings.

Defending champion in the singles was the Spaniard Albert Costa , who failed in the semifinals this year in fourth place. Instead, his top-seeded compatriot Àlex Corretja won the second title of the season and his eleventh tournament of his career.

In doubles, the top seeded pairing consisting of the Czechs Jiří Novák and David Rikl , who succeeded Donald Johnson and Cyril Suk, also won . Both defending champions were eliminated with other partners in the first round. For the pairing it was already the second title of the year, for Novák it was also the eleventh tournament win of his career, for Rikl the 17th.
