The J. Safra Sarasin Swiss Open Gstaad 2017 was a tennis tournament that took place in Gstaad from July 24th to 30th, 2017 . It was part of the 2017 ATP World Tour and was played outdoors on sand. In the same week the BB&T Atlanta Open and the German Tennis Championships in Hamburg were played in Atlanta . The latter belonged to the ATP World Tour 500 category , while the other two tournaments belonged to the lower endowed ATP World Tour 250 category .

The defending champion in the singles was Feliciano López . Julio Peralta and Horacio Zeballos were successful in doubles last year.

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players in the singles each received a bye in the first round. The total prize money was 482,060 euros; the total financial liabilities were 540,310 euros.

The qualification took place on July 22nd and 23rd, 2017. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
