The Rio Open 2017 (officially: Rio Open presented by Claro) was a tennis tournament that took place in Rio de Janeiro from February 20th to 26th, 2017 . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2017 and was played outdoors on a clay court. In the same week, the Open 13 was played in Marseille and the Delray Beach Open in Delray Beach . Both belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category , while the Rio Open belonged to the ATP World Tour 500 category .

Pablo Cuevas was the defending champion in singles, Juan Sebastián Cabal and Robert Farah won doubles last year.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize pool was $ 1,461,560; total financial liabilities were $ 1,603,940.

The qualification took place from February 18-19, 2017. Four qualifier places were played out in singles and a pairing in doubles, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There was also a lucky loser.
