The 2017 Western & Southern Open was a tennis tournament that was held in Mason, Ohio near Cincinnati from August 13-20, 2017 . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2017 and was played outdoors on hard courts. This season it was the seventh of nine tournaments in the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 category . At the same time, the women's Western & Southern Open took place in Cincinnati .

The defending champions were Marin Čilić in singles and Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo in doubles .

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 56 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 24 pairs. The eight top seeded players in singles or pairings in doubles each received a bye into the second round.

qualification

The qualification took place on August 12 and 13, 2017. Seven qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There were also three lucky losers.
