Hanfmann has so far mainly played on the ITF Future Tour and the ATP Challenger Tour . On the Future Tour, he has won five singles and two doubles titles so far. In Ismaning , he won his first title on the Challenger Tour in 2017 by defeating Lorenzo Sonego in three sets in the final . Hanfmann made his first breakthrough on the ATP World Tour when he qualified for the quarter-finals at the BMW Open 2017 . After reaching the round of 16 in Munich - again from the qualification and with victories over some far better placed players in the world rankings - he was able to advance from the qualification to the final again at his third ATP World tournament in Gstaad , in which he however Fabio Fognini lost in two sets. After his triumph in Braunschweig in July 2018, he made it into the top 100 in the world for the first time with 99th place.
Bundesliga
Hanfmann competed in the 2nd tennis Bundesliga in 2014 and 2015 for the TC Weinheim 1902 , after having played for Weinheim in the Regionalliga Süd-West since 2010 . In 2016 he played one year in the 1st Bundesliga for TK Kurhaus Aachen . Since 2017 he has been playing in the 1st Bundesliga for his long-time club TC Weinheim 1902.
Davis Cup
Hanfmann made his debut for the German Davis Cup team in 2017 . In the relegation game against Portugal he was used in the fourth individual, the game had already been decided in favor of Germany at this point. He lost to João Domingues in two sets.
