Bernabé Zapata Miralles (born January 12, 1997 in Valencia ) is a Spanish tennis player .
Career
Zapata Miralles started playing tennis at the age of six. In his time as a junior he only played a few tournaments on the ITF Junior Tour and achieved his best placement in the junior world rankings with position 156. The 2015 US Open was the only Junior Grand Slam tournament he played. Here he lost early in singles and doubles .
For the pros, Zapata Miralles played on the third-rate ITF Future Tour from 2013 . Here he won his first three titles in 2015, two of them in singles. In 2016 he won three individual titles, so that he was in the top 400 for the first time. In October he also played his first tournament on the higher endowed ATP Challenger Tour in Casablanca , where he immediately reached the quarter-finals after successfully qualifying. He finished the year at number 407 in the world rankings . In 2017 he again came to three future titles, which together with some matches he won at Challengers, put him in 300th place in the world rankings.
In 2018, the Spaniard started mainly at Challengers thanks to his improved ranking. At the beginning of the year he reached his first semi-final at this level in Bangkok , which was lost to Marcel Granollers . After a few early defeats, Zapata Miralles managed to qualify for an ATP World Tour event on the fifth attempt in Geneva in May . There he survived the opening hurdle with a smooth win against Florian Mayer and lost to Andreas Seppi in the round of 16 . In July 2019, it reached 224th place, its highest ranking in the world to date.
