Båstad is the capital of the municipality of Båstad in the Swedish province of Skåne län on the Kattegat .

A small part of the village (1 hectare without inhabitants, as of 2015) belongs to the municipality of Laholm in the neighboring province of Hallandslän ; this makes Båstad one of the nine perpetrators in Sweden, which are located on the territory of two provinces.
