Open Seat Godó 2000

The Open Seat Godó 2000 was the 48th edition of the tennis clay court tournament in Barcelona . The tournament was part of the male ATP series as the International Series Gold tournament . It took place from April 24 to 30, 2000, making it the second important tournament on the professional tour in Spain after the Madrid Masters . The prize money was $ 900,000 for both single and double tournaments. In singles, 56 players competed against each other, in doubles there were 28 pairings.

The defending champion of the individual competition was the Spaniard Félix Mantilla , who failed in the second round this year. It was won by the Russian Marat Safin , who celebrated his first of a total of seven titles of the season and his second ever in his career.

The Swedish pairing Nicklas Kulti and Mikael Tillström won in doubles, succeeding Jewgeni Kafelnikow and Paul Haarhuis . For the two Swedes it was the 5th title that they could celebrate together. While Kafelnikow did not defend his title, Haarhuis was in the final with his new doubles partner Sandon Stolle .
