Defending champion in the singles was Rafael Nadal , who won the tournament five times in a row. Nadal refused to participate in this year's tournament due to exhaustion. In the final, the local hero Fernando Verdasco prevailed against Robin Söderling 6: 3, 4: 6, 6: 3. For Verdasco it was already the second title in the current year and his fifth title overall on the ATP Tour. Defending champions in doubles were Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjić , who defeated the duo Lleyton Hewitt and Mark Knowles in three sets and thus defended their title in this final . It was the tenth joint double title for the duo.
