Defending champion in the singles was Andy Murray , but this time he was eliminated in the second round. In this year's final, local hero Andy Roddick prevailed against Tomáš Berdych in two sets with 7: 5 and 6: 4. This was his second triumph in Miami after 2004 and the 29th overall ATP tournament victory in his career. Last year Max Mirny and Andy Ram won the doubles title, but this year they each competed with different partners. While Ram was eliminated in the first round, Mirny made it to the final again. There he and his partner Mahesh Bhupathi lost to the duo Lukáš Dlouhý and Leander Paes in two sets. This was the fourth joint title for Dlouhý and Paes, but for both the first title in the current year.
The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 96 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 32 pairs. The 32 top seeded players in the singles each received a bye into the second round. The total prize money was $ 3,645,000; total financial liabilities were $ 4,500,000.
The qualification took place from March 22nd to 23rd, 2010. Twelve qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There were also two lucky losers.
