The Generali Open 2000 was the 56th edition of the tennis clay court tournament in Kitzbühel . The tournament was part of the male ATP series as the International Series Gold tournament . It took place from July 24th to July 30th, 2000. The prize money for the single and double tournaments was $ 700,000, which was $ 200,000 more than last year. 48 players competed against each other in singles and 24 pairings in doubles. The seeded players received a bye into the second round.

Defending champion of the individual competition was the Spaniard Albert Costa , who failed with five seeded in the round of 16 this year. It was won by his compatriot Àlex Corretja , who celebrated his third title of the season and his 12th title. He won 6: 3, 6: 1 and 3: 0 by giving up his opponent Emilio Benfele Álvarez .

The pairing of eight seeded Cyril Suk and Pablo Albano won in doubles, succeeding Peter Nyborg and Chris Haggard . The defending champions competed with other partners and both were eliminated in the semifinals. For Suk and Albano it was the second title of the season, but both achieved the first with other teammates. The victory in Kitzbühel was the 9th and last title of his career for Albano, and the 20th for Suk.
