Miller Lite Hall of Fame Tennis Championships 2000

The Miller Lite Hall of Fame Championships in 2000 were the 25th edition of the tennis lawn tournament in Newport . The tournament was part of the male ATP series as the International Series tournament . It took place together with the Wideyes Swedish Open in Båstad and the UBS Open Gstaad from July 10th to 16th, 2000. It was the only lawn tournament of the game week. The prize pool for both singles and doubles was $ 350,000. In singles, 32 players competed against each other, in doubles there were 16 pairings.

The defending champion in the singles was the American Chris Woodruff , who was eliminated in the second round this year. Instead, the unseeded Dutchman Peter Wessels won his only title on the ATP Tour. He defeated the also unset German Jens Knippschild in the final.

The two unseeded Israelis Jonathan Erlich and Harel Levy won in doubles , succeeding Wayne Arthurs and Leander Paes . Both defending champions did not take part in the tournament this year. For the Israeli pairing, it was the first and only success of the 2000 season . For both of them it was also the first title of their careers.
