David Sánchez Muñoz (born April 20, 1978 in Zamora ) is a former Spanish tennis player .

Career

David Sánchez became a professional player in 1997. On the ATP Challenger Tour he won six titles in his career, on the ATP World Tour he won two titles, both in 2003. In Viña del Mar he defeated Marcelo Ríos in February with 1: 6, 6: 3 and 6: 3, im September he prevailed 6-2 and 6-2 in Bucharest against Nicolás Massú . He reached the highest ranking in the tennis world rankings in 2003 with position 41 in singles and 2004 with position 80 in doubles.

As an individual, he took part in all Grand Slam tournaments in the main field. At the French Open he achieved his best result in 2001 and 2005 with the third round. In doubles, he only made it past the opening round at the US Open in 2004 .
