Álex Patricio Calatrava (born June 14, 1973 in Cologne ) is a former Spanish tennis player .

Career

Calatrava won five titles on the Challenger Tour , three of them in singles and two more in doubles. On the ATP Tour he won the San Marino tournament in 2000 by beating Sergi Bruguera in the final . He was also in the finals in Casablanca in 1998 and Delray Beach in 2000 .

He also reached an ATP final in doubles; In 1999 he was defeated in Kitzbühel at the side of Dušan Vemić in three sets to Chris Haggard and Peter Nyborg . At Grand Slam tournaments in Melbourne in 2001 he made it into the third round of the individual competition, it was his best result. In doubles, he also reached the round of 16 in Melbourne in 2005.

He achieved his best placement in singles on February 12, 2001 with rank 44, in doubles on October 10, 2005 with rank 110.
