The Tennis Masters Cup 2008 took place in Shanghai from November 9th to 16th . In addition to the four Grand Slam tournaments , the Masters Cup is the most important competition in men's professional tennis; it takes place at the end of the tennis year. World number one Rafael Nadal did not take part in the Masters Cup due to an injury.

The winner in the individual was for the first time the Serb Novak Đoković . The double-final was won by the Canadian-Serbian team Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjić .
