The Thailand Open 2008 was a tennis tournament that took place from September 22nd to 28th in Bangkok . It was part of the ATP Tour 2008 and was played indoors on a hard court. In the same week, the China Open was played in Beijing , which, like the Thailand Open, was part of the International Series category .

Dmitri Tursunow was the defending champion in the singles, but this year he did not take part in the tournament. In the final, the second seeding list, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, won in two sets 7: 6, 4 , 6: 4 against the top seeded Serb Novak Đoković . After Tsonga lost four sets to ätzenoković in his first final ever at the Australian Open in January 2008 , he was able to successfully return the favor at the tournament in Bangkok and book his first tournament victory on the ATP Tour. The local heroes Sanchai and Sonchat Ratiwatana were successful in doubles last year, and this year they were eliminated in the first round. In the final Lukáš Dlouhý and Leander Paes prevailed against Scott Lipsky and David Martin 6: 4, 7: 6 4 .

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players in the singles each got a bye into the second round. The total prize pool was $ 551,000; total financial liabilities were $ 576,000.
