The Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships 2008 was a tennis tournament that took place from March 3rd to 8th, 2008 in Dubai . It was part of the ATP Tour 2008 and was played outdoors on hard courts. In the same week were in Las Vegas , the Tennis Channel Open 2008 played. Unlike the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships, these were part of the International Series , whereas the tournament in Dubai was part of the International Series Gold .

Roger Federer was the defending champion in the singles and failed in the first round against Andy Murray this year . In the final, Andy Roddick, seeded sixth, won in three sets 6: 7, 8 , 6: 4 and 6: 2 against Feliciano López . Fabrice Santoro and Nenad Zimonjić were successful in doubles last year, and this year they competed with other partners and were eliminated in the first round and in the semi-finals. In the final, Simon Aspelin and Julian Knowle prevailed against Martin Damm and Pavel Vízner 7: 5, 7: 6 7 .

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize pool was $ 1,401,000 and total financial liabilities were $ 1,426,000.

The qualification took place from March 1st to 3rd, 2008. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
