Defending champion in the singles was Juan Mónaco , who this year lost in the final in three sets with 2: 6, 6: 2, 2: 6 to the seeding list first Nikolai Dawydenko . So Dawydenko won his 13th individual title. Simon Aspelin and Julian Knowle won doubles last year. Aspelin did not take part again, while Knowle and Jürgen Melzer together failed in the final against the Brazilians Marcelo Melo and André Sá with 5: 7, 7: 6 3 , [11:13]. They each won their fourth title.
The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize money was 349,000 euros, the total financial liabilities were 370,000 euros.
The qualification took place from May 17th to 19th, 2008. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
