Jiří Vaněk (born April 24, 1978 in Domažlice , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech tennis player and coach.
Career
Vaněk was particularly successful on the Challenger Tour . In his career he won 11 singles titles and another doubles. He celebrated his greatest success on the ATP World Tour in Acapulco in 2005 when he reached the final with Tomáš Zíb . There they were defeated by the Spaniards David Ferrer and Santiago Ventura . In Grand Slam tournaments , he did not get past the second round in either singles or doubles. In 2000 and 2008 he took part in the Olympic Games in Sydney and Beijing . In Sydney he was eliminated in the second round in the singles against Max Mirny , in Beijing he lost in the opening round. The Czech player last played regularly in 2010.
