Mac Dalgleish

Mac Dalgleish (born June 12, 1901 in California , † December 31, 1974 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American sound engineer who was nominated for an Oscar in 1945 .

Life

In the Mystery Drama Cross-Examination of Richard Thorpe Dalgleish made his debut in the film. He was responsible for the sound in the film. In 1942 he worked on Charlie Chaplin's sound film version of his 1925 film Gold Rush as a sound recordist. In the war drama Hitler's Madman by Douglas Sirk from 1943 , which deals with the assassination attempt on Reinhard Heydrich and the acts of revenge resulting from the Nazi regime , he was the sound engineer in charge.

In 1945 Mac Dalgleish received an Oscar nomination in the category “Best Sound” for the film drama Voice in the Wind with Franz Lederer and Sigrid Gurie in the leading roles as Sound Director of RCA Sound . However, the award went to Edmund H. Hansen and the biography Wilson , which tells the life story of US President Woodrow Wilson .

Dalgleish worked on the film noir Impact by Arthur Lubin with Brian Donlevy , which was controversial by the critics , in 1949 as well as on Rudolph Maté's 1950 film noir, victims of the underworld . In the same year, the biographical film about and with the American baseball star Jackie Robinson The Jackie Robinson Story by Alfred E. Green was made , in which Dalgleish was responsible for the sound. The following year, he was on the remake of the German film M by Joseph Losey with the same title involved in the hunt for a wanted child murderer from Berlin, the world economic crisis of the postwar period was transferred to the city of Los Angeles.
