Martin Verkerk (born October 31, 1978 in Leiderdorp ) is a former Dutch tennis player .

Career

His greatest success was reaching the final at the French Open in 2003. There he was defeated by the Spaniard Juan Carlos Ferrero .

As a result, Verkerk was often haunted by bad luck with injuries. He qualified for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , but was unable to take part due to an injury. In December 2008 he resigned from active professional sports.
