The Monte Carlo Masters 2008 (officially: Masters Series Monte-Carlo presented by ROLEX ) was a tennis tournament that took place from April 21 to 27, 2008 in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France, near Monaco . It was part of the ATP Tour 2008 and was played outdoors on a clay court. This season it was the third of nine tournaments in the ATP Masters Series . It lasted a week and no other ATP tournaments took place during this period.

In the individual, Rafael Nadal won the tournament by beating world number one Roger Federer 7: 5, 7: 5 for the fourth time in a row. In doubles, Bob and Mike Bryan were the defending champions, but this year they were eliminated in the quarterfinals. In the final, the Spaniards Nadal and Tommy Robredo won in straight sets 6: 3, 6: 3 against Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles . Nadal was able to secure both the single and the double title this year and won a total of 415,500 euros in prize money and 500 world ranking points in singles as well as 500 points in doubles together with his partner.

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 56 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 24 pairs. The eight top seeded players in singles or pairings in doubles each got a bye into the second round. The total prize money was 2,057,000 euros, the total financial liabilities were 2,270,000 euros.

qualification

The qualification took place from April 19-20, 2008. Seven qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
