The Pilot Pen Tennis 2008 (officially: Pilot Pen Tennis presented by Schick ) was a tennis tournament that took place from August 17th to 23rd, 2008 in New Haven . It was part of the ATP Tour 2008 and was played indoors on a hard court. No other ATP Tour tournaments were held in the same week. The US Open was played the following week . The Pilot Pen Tennis belongs to the International Series category .

James Blake was the defending champion in the singles, but this year he did not appear in the tournament. In the final, Marin Čilić , who was sixth on the seeding list, won in three sets 6: 4, 4: 6, 6: 2 against the eighth seeded American Mardy Fish . He won his first ATP title of his career. Mahesh Bhupathi and Nenad Zimonjić were successful in doubles the previous year. While Zimonjić did not take part in the tournament again, Bhupathi moved into the final with his partner Mark Knowles on two set . There, however, they were defeated by the Brazilians Marcelo Melo and André Sá 5: 7, 2: 6, which each won their fifth double title.

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 48 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The 16 top seeded players in the singles each got a bye into the second round. The total prize pool was $ 683,000; total financial liabilities were $ 708,000.

The qualification took place from August 15th to 17th, 2008. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There was also a lucky loser.
