Ramón Delgado (born November 14, 1976 in Asunción ) is a retired Paraguayan tennis player .

Career

Ramón Delgado celebrated a total of 15 title wins on the second-rate ATP Challenger Tour : In singles he won nine titles in his career and six more in doubles. On the ATP World Tour , reaching the finals in 1998 in Bogotá was his greatest success. In the final he was defeated there by the Argentine Mariano Zabaleta 4: 6 and 4: 6. At Grand Slam tournaments , he achieved his best result in individual singles in 1998 in Roland Garros by reaching the round of 16 . In the second round he defeated the top seeded world number one Pete Sampras in three sets. He reached his highest place in the world rankings on April 26, 1999 with place 52, in June 2007 he was number 91 in the double world rankings.

Ramón Delgado played a total of 28 games for the Paraguayan Davis Cup team between 1994 and 2010 . Both his single record with 39: 9 wins and his double record with 14:12 wins are positive. He also holds several record marks for the team: He is the player with the most wins overall, the most single and double victories, with the most encounters and, at the age of 15, the Paraguayan player with the most participations. In 2014 after his actual resignation, he appeared again for the Davis Cup team against Chile, which was lost 5-0.

In May 2011 he announced his retirement from tennis.
