That meant Nadal's fifth title in 2008 and his 28th overall. Mark Knowles and Daniel Nestor were successful in doubles last year, but this year they competed with other partners. While Knowles was eliminated in the quarterfinals, Nestor was able to defend his title with Nenad Zimonjić . In the final they prevailed 6: 4, 7: 6 3 against the Brazilians Marcelo Melo and André Sá .
