The If Stockholm Open 2008 was a tennis tournament that took place from October 6th to 12th, 2008 in Stockholm . It was part of the ATP Tour 2008 and was played indoors on a hard court. In the same week the Kremlin Cup was played in Moscow and the Bank Austria Tennis Trophy in Vienna . Just like the tournament in Stockholm, the former was part of the International Series category , while the tournament in Vienna was part of the higher endowed International Series Gold category .

Ivo Karlović was the defending champion in the singles, but this year he did not appear in the tournament. In the final, the first seeding listener David Nalbandian won in three sets with 6: 2, 5: 7, 6: 3 against the four seeded local heroes Robin Söderling and won his ninth title of his career and the second of the year. Jonas Björkman and Max Mirny were successful in doubles last year. Only Björkman appeared again with a new partner ( Kevin Ullyett ) and managed to defend his title. In the final, the pairing prevailed against Johan Brunström and Michael Ryderstedt 6: 1, 6: 3.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize money was 692,000 euros; the total financial liabilities were 713,000 euros.
