The PTT Thailand Open 2009 was a tennis tournament that took place from September 26th to October 4th, 2009 in Bangkok . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2009 and was played indoors on a hard court. In the same week, the Proton Malaysian Open was held in Kuala Lumpur , which, like the PTT Thailand Open, was part of the ATP World Tour 250 category .

Defending champion in the singles was Jo-Wilfried Tsonga , who was eliminated in the semifinals. Gilles Simon won the final, beating the Serbian Viktor Troicki 7: 5, 6: 3. With that he won his sixth career title. In doubles, Lukáš Dlouhý and Leander Paes were last year's winners. Only Dlouhý started again and was eliminated in the first round. in the final, the American duo Eric Butorac and Rajeev Ram won in straight sets 7: 6, 4 , 6: 3 against Guillermo García-López and Mischa Zverev .

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players each received a bye into the second round. The total prize pool was $ 551,000; total financial liabilities were $ 608,500.

The qualification took place from September 24th to 26th, 2009. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There was also a lucky loser.
