The Rogers Cup 2009 was a tennis tournament that took place from August 10th to 16th, 2009 in Montreal . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2009 and was played on hard court. This season it was the sixth of nine tournaments in the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 category . In parallel, took place in Toronto and the Rogers Cup 2009 instead of the ladies.

Last year's winner was Rafael Nadal , who was eliminated in the quarter-finals this year. British Andy Murray won the final in three sets 6: 7 4 , 7: 6 3 , 6: 1 against Juan Martín del Potro . For Murray this was the fifth title this year and his 13th title on the ATP Tour. In doubles, Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjić went on to defend their title, but were eliminated in the semifinals against the eventual winners of the tournament, Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles . In the final they won against Max Mirny and Andy Ram in two sets with 6: 4 and 6: 3.

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 56 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 24 pairs. The eight top seeded players in singles or pairings in doubles each got a bye into the second round. The total prize money was $ 2,430,000; total financial liabilities were $ 3,000,000.

The qualification took place from August 8th to 9th, 2009. Seven qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There was also a lucky loser.
