The St. Petersburg Open 2009 was a tennis tournament that took place from October 25th to November 1st, 2009 in Saint Petersburg . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2009 and was played indoors on a hard court. In the same week was in Vienna , the Bank Austria Tennis Trophy and in Lyon the Grand Prix de Tennis de Lyon played that just like the St. Petersburg Open to category ATP World Tour 250 counted.

Defending champion in the singles was Andy Murray , who won the last two years. This year he did not take part in the tournament. The winner was Serhij Stachowskyj , who defeated the Argentine Horacio Zeballos 2: 6, 7: 6 8 , 7: 6 7 in the final . Stachowskyj won his third title on the ATP tour. In doubles, Travis Parrott and Filip Polášek were the defending champions, but this year they each competed with new partners. Both were eliminated in the first round. The title went to Colin Fleming and Ken Skupski , who prevailed in the final against the French duo Jérémy Chardy and Richard Gasquet with 2: 6, 7: 5, [10: 4].

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize pool was $ 663,750; total financial liabilities were $ 750,000.

The qualification took place from October 23-25, 2009. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
