The Mercedes Cup 2009 was a tennis tournament that took place from July 13th to 19th, 2009 in Stuttgart . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2009 and was played outdoors on a clay court. The same week the Catella Swedish Open was played in Båstad , which, like the Mercedes Cup, was part of the ATP World Tour 250 category .

Defending champion in the singles was Juan Martín del Potro , who no longer took part in the tournament this year. The winner was the unseeded Jérémy Chardy , who could win his first tournament of his career. In the final, he prevailed against fourth seeding list Victor Hănescu in three sets with 1: 6, 6: 3 and 6: 4. In doubles, Christopher Kas and Philipp Kohlschreiber were the defending champions, but they did not compete together this year. While Kohlschreiber did not take part, Kas and his partner were eliminated in the first round. This year's winners were František Čermák and Michal Mertiňák , who defeated the Romanian doubles Victor Hănescu and Horia Tecău 7: 5, 6: 4. For Čermák it was already the second double title in Stuttgart after he won in 2007 together with Leoš Friedl .

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize money was 398,250 euros; the total financial liabilities were 450,000 euros.
