The SAP Open 2013 was a tennis tournament that took place from February 11th to 17th, 2013 in San José . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2013 and was played indoors on a hard court. In the same week the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament was played in Rotterdam and the Brasil Open in São Paulo . The latter, like the SAP Open, belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category , while the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament belonged to the ATP World Tour 500 category .

Last year's winner Milos Raonic was able to confidently defend his title. He won the final against the German Tommy Haas in straight sets 6: 4 and 6: 3. He didn't give up a set during the whole tournament and only had to tie-break once against Denis Istomin . In doubles, Scott Lipsky and Rajeev Ram were the defending champions, but they no longer played together this year. While Ram did not take part in the tournament, Lipsky played with Santiago González and was eliminated in the quarterfinals. Xavier Malisse and Frank Moser won the final against Lleyton Hewitt and Marinko Matosevic in three sets; for Moser it was the first title on the ATP World Tour.

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs.
