The Malaysian Open 2013 was a tennis tournament that took place from September 21 to 29, 2013 in Kuala Lumpur . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2013 and was played indoors on a hard court. In the same week, the Thailand Open was played in Bangkok , which, like the Malaysian Open, belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category .

Defending champion in singles was the Argentine Juan Mónaco , in doubles Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares . The final of the individual competition was won by Portuguese João Sousa , who won the first ATP title in his career. He defeated Julien Benneteau , who could not convert his ninth finals participation in the first career title in individual. The doubles competition won Eric Butorac and Raven Klaasen .

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players in the singles each got a bye into the second round.

The qualification for the Malaysian Open 2013 took place from September 21 to 23, 2013. Four qualifying places were played that entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
