Defending champion in the singles was Roger Federer , who was eliminated in the quarterfinals against the later finalist Julien Benneteau in two sets. Despite a strong performance throughout the week, the French lost the final against the Argentine Juan Martín del Potro in straight sets 7: 6 2 and 6: 3. In doubles, Michaël Llodra and Nenad Zimonjić were the defending champions. Zimonjić and his new partner Robert Lindstedt were able to win against the duo Thiemo de Bakker and Jesse Huta Galung 5: 7, 6: 3 and [10: 3] and thus defended his title from the previous year. Michaël Llodra, however, did not take part in the tournament this year.
The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs.
The qualification for the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament 2013 took place on February 9th and 10th, 2013. Four qualifying places were played that entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.

Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round.
