Stan Wawrinka was the defending champion in the singles, who did not start again this year. In the final, Martin Kližan from Slovakia prevailed 6: 7 1 , 6: 3, 6: 1 against Gaël Monfils , who was seeded five times , after he had previously defended five match points against Roberto Bautista Agut in the quarter-finals and three match points in the semi-finals against Nicolas Mahut . This means that Kližan won his fourth title in his fourth final and his first in a tournament in the ATP 500 category. In doubles, Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau won the title last year. This year they were eliminated in the semifinals against Philipp Petzschner and Alexander Peya. These in turn lost in the final to the pairing of Nicolas Mahut and Vasek Pospisil with 6: 7 2 , 4: 6. Petzschner / Peya lost their second final after the tournament in Doha . Mahut and Pospisil only played together for the second time and had to fend off a match point on the way to the title in the semi-finals.
The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize money was 1,597,155 euros; the total financial liabilities were 1,722,820 euros.
The qualification for the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament 2016 took place from February 6th to 7th, 2016. Four qualifier places were played out in singles and one place in doubles, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
