The Gerry Weber Open 2016 was a tennis tournament that took place in Halle from June 13th to 19th, 2016 . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2016 and was played outdoors on grass. In the same week, the AEGON Championships were played at the Queen’s Club in London , which, like the Gerry Weber Open, belonged to the ATP World Tour 500 category .

Defending champion in the singles was Roger Federer . In doubles, Raven Klaasen and Rajeev Ram were the defending champions.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize money was 1,700,610 euros; the total financial liabilities were 1,826,275 euros.

The qualification took place from June 11th to June 12th, 2016. Four qualifier places were played out in singles and one place in doubles, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There was also a lucky loser in doubles.
