The Chengdu Open 2016 is a tennis tournament that took place in Chengdu from September 26th to October 2nd, 2016 . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2016 and was played outdoors on hard courts. In the same week, the Shenzhen Open was played in Shenzhen , which like the Chengdu Open belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category .

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players each received a bye into the second round.

The qualification took place from September 24th to 25th, 2016. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
