Bai Yan ( Chinese  柏 衍 , Pinyin Bǎi Yǎn ; born May 21, 1989 in Nanjing ) is a Chinese tennis player .

Career

Bai Yan mainly plays on the ATP Challenger Tour and the ITF Future Tour . He has celebrated eight single and two double victories on the Future Tour so far. He made his singles debut on the ATP World Tour in October 2008 at the China Open , where he lost in two sets in the opening round against Go Soeda . In 2010 he reached the second round of the Shanghai Rolex Masters after beating Radek Štěpánek , where he lost to Andy Murray . There was another first round defeat at the China Open in Beijing 2014 against Marin Čilić . In doubles, the Shanghai Rolex Masters made their first appearance at World Tour level. Here Bai formed a pair of doubles with Zhang Ze , they lost their opening doubles against Thomaz Bellucci and Janko Tipsarević in two sets.

Bai Yan has played for the Chinese Davis Cup team since 2008 . For this he competed in two encounters, whereby he has a balance of 3: 1 in the individual.
