The Abierto Mexicano Los Cabos 2016 was a tennis tournament that took place from August 8th to 13th, 2016 in Cabo San Lucas in the Los Cabos community . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2016 , was played outdoors on hard court and belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category . The same week the Summer Olympics took place in Rio de Janeiro .

It was the first edition of the tournament in Los Cabos, after it had previously been held in Bogotá , Colombia .

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players each received a bye into the second round.

The qualification took place from August 6th to 7th, 2016. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
