The BMW Open 2016 (officially: BMW Open by FWU AG ) was a tennis tournament that took place in Munich from April 25 to May 1, 2016 . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2016 and was played outdoors on a clay court. In the same week, the TEB BNP Paribas İstanbul Open was played in Istanbul and the Millennium Estoril Open in Estoril , which, like the BMW Open, belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category .

Defending champion in singles was Andy Murray , in doubles it was the pairing of Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares .

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players in the singles each got a bye into the second round. The total prize money was EUR 469,430; the total financial liabilities were 520,070 euros.

qualification

The qualification took place from April 23 to 24, 2016. Four qualifying places were played that entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There was also a lucky loser.
