Taylor Harry Fritz (born October 28, 1997 in San Diego ) is an American tennis player .

Career

Taylor Fritz's greatest success of his junior career was winning the individual competition at the 2015 US Open . At the beginning of his career he played mainly on the ATP Challenger Tour and the ITF Future Tour . He won his first challenger title in 2015 in Sacramento .

He made his debut in singles on the ATP World Tour in June 2015 at the AEGON Open Nottingham , where he received a wildcard for the main draw. He won his first round game against Pablo Carreño Busta in straight sets before failing in the second round to Feliciano López in two sets. He made his Grand Slam debut in doubles at the US Open in August 2015 with Reilly Opelka . There they lost in the first round against Marcus Daniell and Jonathan Marray in three sets.

With another Challenger tournament victory, Fritz was able to move into the top 250 of the world rankings for the first time before his 18th birthday; In October 2015 he was listed at position 232 in the world rankings. Thanks to further good performances, he achieved a top 100 position for the first time in January and was even able to advance to 81st place in the world rankings by the end of February. As the youngest player in the Top 100, he won the ATP Star of Tomorrow Award in 2016 , replacing Alexander Zverev , who won the previous year.

In 2019 he made his debut for the US Davis Cup team .
