Montmartin-en-Graignes is a town and commune Déléguée in French community Carentan-les-Marais with 602 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Manche in the region of Normandy . The inhabitants are called Montmartinais .

geography

Montmartin-en-Graignes is about twenty kilometers north of Saint-Lô . The river Vire flows through and limits the village to the east, to the west of the Taute . The old Canal de Vire et Taute crosses the municipality to the south . The neighborhoods of Montmartin-en-Graignes are Carentan les Marais with Saint-Pellerin and Les Veys in the north,

The national route 174 runs through the village .

history

On January 1, 2019, Montmartin-en-Graignes was incorporated into the Commune nouvelle Carentan-les-Marais and has been a Commune déléguée ever since. It belonged to the arrondissement of Saint-Lô and the canton of Pont-Hébert (until 2015: canton of Saint-Jean-de-Daye ).
