Frank Paul Schubert (born March 21, 1965 in Neuss ) is a German jazz and improvisation musician ( alto and soprano saxophone ).

Live and act

Schubert began to play the saxophone autodidactically in 1982. From 1988 to 1992 he took lessons from Lajos Dudas and from 1992 to 1996 studied classical and jazz saxophone with Hugo Read at the Musikhochschule Köln-Aachen . He then lived initially in Aschaffenburg. In 1999 he moved to Berlin, where he has worked since then. a. worked with Willi Kellers , Andreas Willers , Johannes Bauer , Uwe Oberg , Günter Sommer , Tony Buck , Alexander von Schlippenbach , Meinrad Kneer , Yorgos Dimitriadis and Clayton Thomas .

In the Duo Foils he plays with Matthias Müller , who has toured as the Foils Quartet since 2012, expanded by John Edwards and Mark Sanders . In 2005 he released the duo album Phoobsering with Antonis Anissegos . Anissegos and Schubert also work in the Boar quartet that Christof Thewes founded. His CD Hic Sunt Leones with Günter "Baby" Sommer was nominated as one of the CDs of the year by the British magazine The Wire .
