Meinrad Kneer

Meinrad Kneer (born May 8, 1970 in Munderkingen ) is a German jazz bassist.

Kneer studied biology at the University of Tübingen and from 1995 to 1999 double bass at the Hilversum and Amsterdam Conservatories. He has since performed with musicians such as Najma Akhtar , Han Bennink , Fred Frith , Tobias Delius , Tristan Honsinger , Denise Jannah , Anne La Berge , Paul Lovens , Tony Overwater , Michael Vatcher and Corrie van Binsbergen . As a sideman he played u. a. in the groups Bite the Gnatze , Play Station 6 , the Joost Buis Tentet , The Gravitones , I Compani and Spoon 3 .

Together with Tobias Klein , he led the Dalgoo group from 1998 to 2005 , with which he was awarded the Jur Naessens Muziek Prijs in 2002. He also plays in a trio with Albert van Veenendaal and Yonga Sun . With the flautist Mark Alban Lotz he organizes a weekly concert series for improvisation music in Utrecht. In 2006 he founded the record label Evil Rabbit Records with Albert van Veendaal . He worked on dance projects with Jack Gallagher , Suzan Tunca and Reinier Schimmel .
