Felicity Provan
Felicity Provan (* around 1963) is an Australian jazz and improvisation musician ( trumpet , cornet and vocals ).
Career
Provan studied classical and jazz trumpet at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne until 1986 ; she was an active member of the Melbourne Improvisers Association . She worked with various jazz and improvisation ensembles, composed for dance and film projects, and in 1985 was composer in residence with the dance company Feats Unlimited .
In 1990 she moved to Amsterdam, where she a. a. worked with Curtis Clark , Corrie van Binsbergen , Ab Baars , Han Bennink , Sean Bergin , Michael Moore , Tobias Delius , Michael Vatcher and Jacques Palinckx . With her duo partner Belinda Moody she toured Australia in 1993 and the Netherlands in 1994.
In 1995 she was a singer in the Belgian saxophonist Erwin Vann's Worlds project . Her composition Dr Jasz was performed in 1995 at the Stadsschouwburg in Amsterdam by the performance artist Teo Joling . With his Poe adaptation Teer an Feer , she toured the Netherlands in 1998. In the same year she participated in Rajesh Mehta's dance theater project Monsoon .
She has performed with Rajesh Mehta's group Collective 3+ , works with the De Commotie group and is a member of Joost Buis ' Famous Astronotes . With the Canadian bassist Joe Williamson and the Australian percussionist Steve Heather , she founded a trio in 1998, which was expanded to a quartet with Aab Bars. She performed with Sean Bergin's Mob at the North Sea Jazz Festival . Kris Wanders brought her and Joost Buis to his Urban Street Music Project . She performed in Belgium with a quartet led by the drummer Chris Joris and the Australian pianist Walter Lampe (with the Dutch bassist Arnold Dooyeweerd ). In recent years she has worked with David Kweksilber's band , in a duo with Lampe or with Phil Bancroft , and in a trio with pianist Achim Kaufmann and Michael Vatcher.
