Yonga Sun (born May 13, 1977 in Trier as: Yonga Liebertz ) is a German jazz musician ( drums , percussion ) of Korean origin who has also emerged in the field of pop and improvised music .

Act

Sun, who lives in Arnhem in the Netherlands, studied at the local conservatory, where he completed his master's degree after completing his bachelor's degree in 2004. was the musical director of the pop band around the Dutch pop singer Lavalu ( Hope or Liquid Courage , 2009). He belonged to Markus Stockhausen's Eternal Voyage , the Ad Colen Quartet and the Ensemble Talking Cows directed by Robert Vermeulen and Frans Vermeerssen , with whom he can be heard on two albums. He also played in the bands Small Friendly Giants , Square Orange , Brabants Ensemble Avonturlijke Muziek and Corrie van Binsbergens Vanbinsbergen Playstation , with which he presented two albums. In the field of jazz he belongs to the groups of Bo van de Graaf , Franz von Chossy and Matthias Goebel .

Prizes and awards

In 2005 Yonga Sun received the first prize as “Best Soloist” in the Dutch Jazz Competition at the North Sea Jazz Festival .
