Matthias Goebel
Matthias Goebel (* 1978 in Soest ) is a German jazz musician ( vibraphone , percussion , composition ).
Goebel was introduced to classical music and the piano at an early age. As a teenager he turned to pop music and played as a drummer in regional bands. Since 2000 he has been studying music at the Cologne University of Music and Dance with Mathias Haus and Christian Roderburg , which he supplemented with private studies in New York.
As a border crosser between classical, jazz and pop, Goebel developed his own compositional signature. He founded his own groups. He also teaches body percussion and didactics at the Cologne University of Music, Wuppertal department . Together with Tony Miceli , he directed the Spring Vibes festival in Wuppertal in 2017 .
