Albert van Veenendaal

Albert van Veenendaal (born July 24, 1956 in Utrecht ) is a Dutch jazz pianist.

Live and act

Van Veenendaal studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory with Misha Mengelberg (1978 to 1980), Niko Langenhuijsen (1978–1983), Willem van Manen (1978–1981) and Arnold Dooyeweerd (1978 to 1982). He won the Meervaart Jazz Competition in 1982 . Since then he has worked with musicians such as Corrie van Binsbergen , Arnold Dooyeweerd, Rob van den Broeck , Wiek Hijmans , Cameron Brown and Sylvie Courvoisier .

In addition, he founded a number of his own bands, including the Trio Pavlov (with Oene van Geel and Hans Hasebos ), the Traveling Light Piano Trio (with Niko Langenhuijsen and Jozef Dumoulin ), a trio with Meinrad Kneer and Yonga Sun and a duo with Kneer. He also gives concerts as a solo pianist. In 2001 he founded a Four Piano Quartet

With the group President of the Globe (with Elisa Roep , Alec Kopyt , Meinrad Kneer and Tobias Klein ) van Veenendaal dedicates himself to the work of the poet Velimir Chlebnikov . With the group I Compani (with Bo van de Graaf , Ewout Dercksen , Jeroen Doomernik , Tessa Zoutendijk , Hans Hasebos, Meinrad Kneer and Yonga Sun) he started the multimedia project Circusism in Nijemegen in 2007 . He is also active as a composer.
