Niko Langenhuijsen

Niko Langenhuijsen (born February 12, 1951 in Den Bosch ) is a Dutch jazz musician ( double bass , piano , composition).

Live and act

Langenhuijsen grew up in Boxtel and lived in Tilburg from 1969 , where he first studied theology and then went to the conservatory. He played avant-garde jazz in the Ohm group , which won the Larens Jazz Concours in 1973 and was awarded the Wessel-Ilcken Prize in 1975 . Langenhuijsen also gave workshops. With young talents he discovered there, he occupied the brass section of Ohm in 1976 , later his octet Gemeentereinigingsorkest Vaalbleek , with which he recorded several albums, later expanded by singers. In 1985 he received an Edison for his album Hypo . In 1992 he formed the group Caoutchouc , in which he also merged with flamenco . Langenhuijsen was a lecturer at various Dutch conservatories. He has lived in Nijmegen since 1994 . He also composed for the Metropole Orkest .

He can also be heard in groups and on albums by Paul van Kemenade , Pierre Courbois and Jozef Dumoulin . Tom Lord lists 14 recordings by Langenhuijsen between 1974 and 2007 in his discography.
