Hans Sparla

Hans Sparla (* 1955 ) is a Dutch jazz musician ( trombone , accordion , arrangement ).

Sparla received musical training in a family environment and learned to play the accordion from his father. After three years at the Hanover University of Music and Drama , he continued his classical instrumental studies at the Brabant Conservatory in Tilburg (graduated in 1981). Hein van de Geyn and Niko Langenhuijsen imparted knowledge of jazz to him. During his studies he played with the Vaalbleek Cleansing Department Orchestra , from 1984 (for more than a decade) in the quintet of Paul van Kemenade and with Palinckx & Palinckx . In the late 1980s he was in the Contraband of Willem van Manen worked, then the septet of Dick de Graaf and Michael Hennings Experimenti Berlin Orchestra . From the late 1990s he was also on the road with Eric van der Westen and Bik Bent Braam . He was also active as an accordionist in the Trio Nuevo ( Jazz Meets Tango , 2006, with Dick de Graaf and Michael Gustorff ) and in the Trio Misto . As a trombonist, he has also worked in groups such as Vlek , Bo van de Graaf I Compani , BEAM (with Markus Stockhausen ) and F3 in recent years .

For more than ten years Sparla taught the trombone major at the jazz department of the Brabant Conservatory (Fontys) and since 1981 at the music school (Factorium) in Tilburg. There he also offers improvisation courses. He can be heard on many albums; Tom Lord lists 28 recordings between 1979 and 2013 in his discography.
